Sensory or messy play is a type of play that is open ended. It is an enriching style of play that supports multiple domains of child development utilizing materials that stimulate children’s senses and allow them to explore the world around them. Sensory play has wonderful developmental benefits for children as it engages both the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

The benefits include:

• Fine motor development

• Hand and eye coordination, body control, spatial awareness and balance

• Enhancing language development

• Creativity and imagination

• Cognitive development including thinking, experimentation and problem solving

• Building relationships

The other significant benefit of sensory/ messy play is emotional regulation, through engaging the senses it supports children’s nervous system to feel grounded and calm.

Suitable for:

• Toddlers to children aged 7 years old

Group Outline:

Each fortnight children will explore the wonders of sensory play, with various play areas carefully designed and created for your little one to let their imagination and curiosity be ignited.
