It’s Time To Play.

It’s Time to Play is a practical hands-on therapy designed for children with Autism, Developmental Delays or those children that struggle to play. It’s Time To Play follows the research and evidenced based program of ‘Learn to Play’ developed by Karen Stagnitti.

It’s Time To Play aims to develop children’s play abilities and to build on play scripts. Play is the language of children, it is the way in which young children make sense of the world. Play is so enriching as it is linked to many areas of development for a child - language, communication, social competence, self-regulation, planning, organising, problem solving and creativity.

It’s Time to Play supports children to explore play, develop play scripts, learn language associated with play and develop social skills in communication, turn taking and sharing.

It’s Time to Play is a small group program that is nurturing and supportive of children.

Suitable for:

• Children aged 3 - 7 years.

Group Outline:

An initial parent consultation will take place to discuss your child and their needs. This is then followed by an initial child session where a play assessment is conducted to ascertain where therapy begins.

Each week play props and scenes are carefully selected to foster play activities, sequences of play actions and play scripts. Children are scaffolded and supported in their play, modelling and describing play actions to promote language and communication, along with sharing and turning taking to promote social interactions and skill development. As children’s play competence and confidence increases interventions are decreased to allow children the space to independently engage in play.

Parents receive weekly updates on their child’s engagement with the group along with any further information to support generalisation skills at home or kindergarten/ school.

At the completion of It’s Time To Play a final parent session is conducted to provide feedback on your child and their development in the program.

Term 1 2024 Details:

Thursday Group

Commencing: Thursday 15th February 2024

Day: weekly Thursday sessions for term 1

Time: 4pm- 4:40pm

Duration: Sessions are 40 minutes in duration.

Cost: $88 per session

Saturday Group

Commencing: Saturday 17th February 2024

Day: weekly Saturday sessions for term 1 (no session on 9/3/2024 due to labour day weekend).

Time: 11am-11:40am

Duration: Sessions are 40 minutes in duration.

Cost: $88 per session

P.N cost can be claimed through NDIS if self-managed or plan managed.
